4.5.1 Departments of Computer Science and Informations Systems, Staff

Informal discussions were held with the staff of the Departments of
Computer Science and Information Systems. The delegation was also given
demonstrations of the graphics and VR work being undertaken at Rhodes
University, including their RoVeR VR system. The discussions focussed on
possible collaborative
projects, ACM DL consortia, and the problems of network bandwidth. There
was also interest in facilitating sabbatical visits both from and to Rhodes
University.

4.5.2 Department of Computer Science, Students

The students were very interested in the presentation and as at UCT
they were encouraged to become student volunteers for S2002.
4.5.3 Vice Chancellor
Fractal Brocolli
The presentation was given to the Vice Chancellor, David Woods (left
above), followed by informal discussions. Again the issues raised were
the possible ACM DL consortia and ways in which access to this resource
from Southern Africa could be made more efficient.
