Shortly after its arrival in Gaberone, the delegation met and had informal
discussions with Oshinka Tsiang, Channel Controller and acting General
Manager of BTV, and Martin Hillman, head of Graphics at BTV. The following
morning the delegation was given a tour of the new BTV facilities, which
are still under construction. Botswana Television is a new publicly funded
television station in the nation of Botswana. It has been well-funded by
the government and has well-equipped facilities. Currently only 5 hours
of programming per day are being broadcast, but they are trying to ramp
quickly to a full broadcasting day.

Thanks to Martin Hillman, a meeting, between several representatives
of BTV and UB was held at BTV. The UB representatives were particularly
interested in access to open-source material that would enable them to
teach computer graphics effectively. BTV were encouraged to submit their
work to the AG2001 Showcase. There had been an attempt to establish a local
``Graphics Design Association'' but this had yet to succeed.
