Design of architectures for high-quality information presentation, computer graphics standards, application programmer interface design
In this age of evolving world-wide networking, the importance of involving SIGGRAPH in the advance of information presentation technology is critical as computer graphics becomes a central feature of modern information presentation. Through the position of Director for Communications, I will seek opportunities for strengthening the interests of SIGGRAPH in supporting its computer graphics professional and computer graphics user communities with an emphasis on involvement in the forward development of the computer graphics industry.
As a member of the SIGGRAPH Executive Committee, I will coordinate the efforts of all SIGGRAPH officers in communicating with the members and with others outside the SIGGRAPH family. As part of this effort, I will seek new and innovative paths of communication as well as greater usage of existing means. To encourage and guide the industry, SIGGRAPH can provide significant influence as well as critical guidance. I will work to further the development of an effective World Wide Web site, through which SIGGRAPH can provide focused information about computer graphics to the developers of computer graphics tools, the developers of products which use computer graphics, and the users of such products.
While SIGGRAPH seeks to represent the computer graphics profession, many computer graphics professionals are not involved in SIGGRAPH activities except to perhaps attend the annual conference. I will initiate a more pro-active effort to reach the interests of those involved in computer graphics. I will seek to attract users of computer graphics to SIGGRAPH membership. As part of this effort, I will work to tailor member benefits to the specific needs of focused computer graphics interests as well as broaden the appeal of SIGGRAPH membership to encourage a wider diversity of members.
With the infrastructure for producing items of information presentation advancing at a exciting rate, I will assist the SIGGRAPH involvement in advancing the state of the infrastructure as well as the state-of-the-art by attracting from throughout the world new members from a wide range of disciplines thus producing an influx of new ideas and energy which will result in a stronger SIGGRAPH organization.
