ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Elections Nominating Committee Report

This year ACM SIGGRAPH members will elect three members of the ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2004. The Nominating Committee sought colleagues whom we believe can successfully lead ACM SIGGRAPH in the changing world of computer graphics and interactive techniques. We are pleased to present you with a group of professionals with experience as ACM SIGGRAPH volunteers as well as solid achievements in industry, research, and academia.

The Nominating Committee has selected two nominees for each position. The statements from the candidates will appear in the February issue of Computer Graphics and in ballot material. Other names may be added to the ballot by the petition process described below. Ballots, including copies of the candidate statements will be mailed to ACM SIGGRAPH members in a first class mailing in the spring of 2004, and we hope you will all read the statements carefully and vote. Any questions about nominations, petitions, or elections can be directed to Judy Brown, jbrown@siggraph.org.

ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Ballot Results

The ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 election results are in. Mk Haley was elected Director for Communications; Francis X. McAfee, Director for Chapters; and Rob Cook, Director at Large.

We appreciate the commitment to ACM SIGGRAPH that all the candidates made in accepting the nominations and regret that the candidates who were not elected will not serve on the Executive Committee at this time. We are sure that such outstanding volunteers will have many other opportunities to serve within ACM SIGGRAPH, and we look forward to continuing to work with all the candidates in some way.

Each year the Nominating Committee, led by the Past President of ACM SIGGRAPH, looks for nominees for the following year's Executive Committee positions. The committee will be nominating for two positions in 2005: President, and Vice President. More information about the duties of each position can be found in our bylaws at http://www.siggraph.org/gen-info/bylaws.html. The Nominating Committee for 2004-2005 will be chaired by Judith R. Brown and can be reached at NominatingCommittee@siggraph.org. Anyone interested in a leadership position in ACM SIGGRAPH is encouraged to contact us to express your interest or to suggest good candidates.

We appreciate the interest of everyone who voted in this election and remind all members of ACM SIGGRAPH that your votes set the direction of the organization.
